Per hour of CD and MP3, whereas the song seems to be become an industry, the public rediscovers an inheritance often abused and underestimated. Reflection of its time and revealing of the developments of society, the song belongs to us and all along our life follows us. It is worth only by the memory and the transmission (oral, written or sound). So today one still sings works of the Middle Ages, it is because they knew to allure generations of interpreters, without never the channel being broken by it.
The Editors of Music have the role of ensuring the perenniality of the musical inheritance which is entrusted to them by the authors. This is why, in an ambitious project, which constitutes a first in the field of the music publishing, they undertook within their employers' association to gather in the same collection a broad party of the inheritance of the century.
This initiative engaged by a profession little known of the public gives again its noble letters with the partition written, before very intended for the musicians, singers and in love with the song. For them, the graphic support remains indeed the main vehicle of works which they wish to interpret.
Expressing itself thus collectively, the Editors of Music propose a collection which will on the whole understand 10 volumes of 301 songs each one. The first six volumes published forward an anthology of the best songs of last century, of 1889 to 1979. The collection 1983 1809 is under development.
This enormous research task, which uses the whole of the editors, returns finally available and joined together in only one edition the known airs of each decade: a tool which will become soon essential.
