The Employers' federation of the Editors of Light music was created in 1925.
In 1970, certain editors related to recording companies disunited and created the (Property owners' syndicate of the Editors of Musical Publications) whose Chairman at the time was Georges . The , chaired by Robert , understood at the time embers.

During eight years, the two employers' federations lived in concert, defending the promotion of the profession, representing the editors on the level of the public authorities and the institutions such as the SACEM. 
In 1978, the and the decided to amalgamate and create the (Employers' association of the Music publishing). It was agreed that each Room would indicate 10 of its members to belong to the first Board of directors. The head office of the was at the time to the 1, street of to Paris 8th.
The first Board of directors of the was thus made up:

The main object of the remains the grouping of publishing industries musical (graphic, sound, audio-visual etc…) and the defense of the national or international professional interests of its members.
